My practice pivots around three continually expanding principles: (1) language as a means to find comfort with finitude and sickles, (2) visual abstraction as an (often comedic) instrument to surface conditions of disabled blackness, and (3) play as an interrogative force to unveil societal perceptions and values regarding ability, chronic illness and disability. Even more honestly, my practice is function of existing between three mottos: (1)‘remember to forget’, (2) ‘forget to remember’, and (3) ‘play in the dark’.
