Website

Lee Laa Ray Guillory is a New Orleans based interdisciplinary artist and researcher whose work is grounded in her devotion to Black mysticism and photographic interrogations of intersectional identity. Guillory examines photography as both a spiritual and colonial methodology by employing a hybrid of digital and analogue techniques. Her creative practice incites Louisiana's religious history of European, Indigenous, and Afro-diasporic spiritual syncretization. Guillory’s interdisciplinary projects follow the tradition of art as ritual, with past works offering divination to the Mississippi River watershed, ancestral veneration via self-portraiture, immersive multimedia installations, and spirit led photography.
