I am filmmaker born and raised in Flatbush, Brooklyn now living in Bed-stuy. I tell stories of transformation and understated bravery that stem from true accounts, incorporate magical realism and use choreographed gestural movement to render psycho-spiritual realities we can not see. In my practice I source text and dialogue from found documents, film in the location of origin, and attempt to cast people directly related to the subject matter–including myself. I investigate victimhood ontology as expressed through the female gaze by complicating the archetype of the imperiled or victimized woman in order to envision hope, healing and agency.
