My current project love bomb! (love highway) is the second installment of a “sexperimental” art music video/ photographic trilogy. Playing cheeky homage to Asian and Western tunes, the series feature original trilingual (Vietnamese, Lao, English) hip pop songs—a fictitious cross between pop and hip hop.  The disjunctured videos feature a queer, star-crossed, time-traveling transgender love triangle set in Southeast Asia. The lovers wrestle with the traumas of past wars and future development. Sounds complicated? Love is!  Today, the explosion of pan-Asian youth culture and pop music obscures traces of traumatic pasts in Indochine. How do we reconcile longing and loss? How are national and consumer desires linked?
