I usually make things out of necessity. I made a lot of costumes as a teenage stripper in Tokyo and as a go go dancer/mermaid performer in NYC. I made super 8 film portraits so I could project them during my DJ sets. I did many musical performances as a drummer and singer. When the lockdown happened and all of a sudden I didn’t have any outlet. I made a series of images using the Japanese tradition of Nukazuke fermented vegetables. This was a form of meditation as well as fun and the final result each time brought joyful surprise and a moment of quietness to my mind, and hopefully to the viewers.
